Living Here

Living Here

A common theme throughout any discussion about our community is how caring and close knit our communities are. The slower pace of life in addition to small town charm attracts and retains families and individuals to Ogemaw County. We are fortunate to have a regional medical facility, multiple school systems, and advanced educational opportunities in addition to being surrounded by an agricultural and recreational outdoor setting. Ogemaw County offers a great place to live, work, and play in a friendly, safe, and natural environment.

Tourism & Recreation

The area’s many outdoor activities make it a prime region for four-season recreation. With 243,000 acres of state and national forest, 4,122 acres of lakes, and 381 miles of rivers, summer and winter recreational opportunities are abundant. Tee off at one of our several golf courses. Fishing, boating, canoeing, watersports, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and hunting are just a few of the many outdoor activities visitors and residents enjoy.

From quaint downtown shops to an array of national brand name outlet and big box stores, Ogemaw County has a wide range of shopping options available.

West Branch - West Branch is a regional shopping hub. Tanger Outlet Center with 27 name brand stores is a top outlet shopping destination in Michigan and attracts over 1 million shoppers each year. Major home improvement centers, large retail developments, grocery stores, a variety of restaurants and other shopping options are joined together within 5 miles on the I-75 Business Loop between Exits 212 and 215. In the middle of the business loop is downtown Victorian West Branch, with a variety of unique specialty shops, restaurants, and a cinema.

Rose City - M-33 leads to Rose City and the business district including home improvement, grocery, and specialty stores, as well as restaurants. Also to note are the two wineries in Rose City, just off M-33.

Prescott/Skidway Lake Area - The Greenwood Road corridor is the community and business hub in the Prescott/Skidway Lake Area. Not only is the new boardwalk a great attraction and addition to the area, but there is also a wide variety of shops and restaurants for visitors and residents as well.
